Life in Japan
I’ve been in Japan for over 2 months straight so far, lots of catching up with friends and lots to see and do and will still be for a few more months. Rent is considerably cheaper here, but it’s easy to spend a lot of money if you’re not careful. I only speak limited Japanese, so anything beyond expected conversation subjects becomes difficult and often impossible. Still, I enjoy the challenge. The key seems to be picking out the main point, for example, when I’m checking out at a store, the cashiers talk very fast because they say the same phrase hundreds of times a day, way too fast for me to understand. But if I can pick out ‘Pointo kaado’ (points card) or ‘rejibukuro’ (shopping bag), it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what they’re asking.

Visited the Mikasa battleship, did some metal detecting, saw some concerts, caught up with a ton of friends, became somewhat of a regular at a nearby restaurant/bar called Rambo Chicken and even found a couple bilingual churches. But had a lot of really quiet days too, just exploring or staying in to save money.

Overall a good time, but there’s a few things I miss. My car (walking everywhere sucks, especially if you’re carrying stuff and even moreso in bad weather), guns (although there’s a ton of realistic replica gun stores here), being able to read the ingredient labels of food I’m buying, explaining nuances of something you’re looking for in a store and obviously friends and family back home, but we’ve been keeping in touch.
Last but not least, the album will FINALLY be released on streaming platforms tomorrow!
The links will be posted here then!
